Curriculum Overview
In this section you can find any and all information associated with our George Fentham Endowed School Curriculum.
Over the last few years we have undergone a comprehensive review of our curriculum provision, identifying what our 'curriculum intent' for each subject is, what the 'implementation' of this looks like and how we will measure the 'impact'.
Below, we have organised this page into 'subject areas', in order to allow anyone to see exactly what the curriculum in that subject, throughout school, looks like. These pages contain our 'Subject Leader Curriculum maps'. Further to this we have comprehensive 'sequences of learning' and 'progression documents', outlining the curriculum for each subject and/or Year Group, all of which are available to view within school, by request. Alongside this we also have our 'Class Curriculum Overviews', which outline what is taught in each subject, each term, in each Year Group.
Whilst our curriculum is directly based around the core elements of the National Curriculum, it is also planned alongside the principles of BLP, SMSC and British Values as we want our children to grow into "exceptional learners, as well as exemplary members of society".

" Pupils’ attitudes to learning are very positive and pupils display a real thirst for knowledge and enthusiasm to participate in the wide range of engaging and challenging activities provided. Most subjects pupils say are ‘brilliant’!"

Whole School 'Curriculum Intent'
At George Fentham Endowed School we have designed our curriculum:
(Blue – Christian Values) (Black – BLP)
Our George Fentham Endowed School Curriculum reflects our local context by building on the experiences and aspirations of our families. We have high expectations of our children and seek to further broaden their horizons beyond their immediate environment, adding to their Cultural Capital in order to prepare them well for the next stage of their education and to create successful lifelong learners.
At George Fentham Endowed School we have designed our curriculum:
- To enable our children to develop habits and attitudes to become better learners and face difficulties and uncertainties calmly, confidently and creatively. (BLP)
- To enable our children to extend their knowledge, understanding and skills across all curriculum subjects securing high quality work, standards and outcomes from their varied starting points. (Academic)
- To enable our children to broaden their horizons and develop a strong sense of moral purpose and respect for others.

Subject Specific and Class 'Curriculum Intent & Implementation'
Following a review of our curriculum offer, we have developed a range of resources that show our 'Intent & Implementation' for each of the subjects taught, outlining what is taught and when. This ensures consistency and continuity within each subject, as well as clear progression that builds on prior knowledge and understanding.

Curriculum Subject Area pages
Subject Leaders have produced clear, concise statements that explain the 'intent' for their subject, along with Curriculum Maps that provide greater detail about how we 'implement' this.
These can be viewed, by subject, by clicking on the appropriate icon below and further documentation (including: Subject Maps by Year Group and Learning sequences) related to our curriculum offer can be viewed within school.

EYFS Curriculum
We are aware that EYFS follow their own 'framework' and so their 'areas of learning' do not readily fit within the structure of the above curriculum subjects, which are followed by Key Stages 1 and 2.
We do however firmly believe that our EYFS curriculum introduces children to the awe and wonder of all these subjects and sets the foundations for their subsequent learning.
As part of our curriculum review we have produced Nursery and Reception Curriculum Maps, that provide greater detail about how we 'implement' the curriculum in EYFS.
