Believe Achieve Succeed
GEORGE FENTHAM ENDOWED SCHOOL’S VISION
Our vision is to provide a happy, positive and safe environment where children and adults have the confidence to “Believe, Achieve and Succeed”. We offer an engaging, enriched curriculum which promotes a thirst for knowledge, treats everyone as individuals and inspires all learners to flourish.
Through our core Christian Values of: Creativity, Compassion, Perseverance, Friendship and Respect, George Fentham Endowed School nurtures our children so that they are kind, confident and enthusiastic individuals. We work together as an inclusive school family where we promote the essential Christian value to: “Love the Lord your God and love your neighbour as yourself.” (Matthew 22:36-40)

GEORGE FENTHAM ENDOWED SCHOOL’S ETHOS & VALUES
George Fentham Endowed School is a Church of England school by usage, sitting at the heart of the village of Hampton-in-Arden, benefitting from the support of parents and our local community to strengthen the partnership of learning. All that the School staff and Governing Body do is based on Christian values. The school provides a warm, happy atmosphere in which every pupil can learn and develop as a whole person with an open enquiring mind. Our Collective Worship reflects Christian beliefs and values, whilst including and respecting the faith of others and those with no faith.
Every child is valued as an individual and is encouraged and supported to achieve their full potential; a person who makes a positive contribution to the life of the School and beyond. Children are encouraged to have an understanding, empathy and acceptance for cultures and societies other than their own and supported to be “ready, respectful and safe” in all that they do. The care and concern shown for our children instils in them both self-respect and sensitivity for the needs and values of others and of the world around them, encouraging them to be spiritually, morally and socially responsible members of our school and wider community.
The Governing Body has set, and will safeguard, an ethos of high expectations of everyone in the school community, so as to foster a common culture, values and ethos, ensuring it is reflected consistently in both its policies and its practices and the promotion of British Values.

Curriculum
We are incredibly proud of our curriculum, yet we never stand still. As part of our most recent curriculum review we have updated all of our Curriculum Maps, with ALL subject leaders amending and updating their subject areas to ensure that our curriculum intent and implementation are consistent and show progression throughout school. These have been published, along with any further information, on our Curriculum Homepage (Click here).
We use the "Floppy's Phonics" scheme for our Phonics teaching and use the associated Reading Scheme from Oxford Reading Tree, thus ensuring we have fidelity to one scheme and that our children receive the best possible phonics and reading preparation throughout EYFS and Key Stage 1.
Additional information is being added all of the time, so please check back at a later date.

Instead, all information that would traditionally have been in a prospectus is contained within this website, including: School Uniform, timings of the school day, staffing etc.
Once you have had a look around our website please feel free to contact the school office should you then want to arrange to come and have a look around.

RE
As a Church of England, by usage, school we believe that children's spiritual growth and wider appreciation of the world around them is enhanced through active participation in, and learning from, being part of our collective worship and RE curriculum provision. As part of our broad and balanced RE offering, children develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of Christianity and the other principal religions in the UK, as well as non-religious worldviews, as part of a multi-faith approach.
Whilst we want all children to be encouraged to partake in RE and collective worship, parents have the right to withdraw their child from all, or part, of these sessions at any time. If this is your decision, we request that you put this in writing and submit it to the Headteacher.
The Right of Withdrawal from Religious Education:
Religion and belief have become more visible in public life in recent years, making it important that all pupils should have an opportunity to engage in RE and/or collective worship. However, the parent of a child may request that they be excused from all or part of the religious education (RE) being provided.
Before withdrawal from our RE curriculum offering or collective worship, we would ask that parents come in and speak to us, so that they are fully aware of its aims and what is covered in the RE curriculum so they can make a fully informed decision. Any request should make clear whether the withdrawal is from the whole of the RE curriculum/collective worship or specific parts of it. No reasons need be given.
Important - limitations to withdraw
Managing the Right of Withdrawal
If pupils are withdrawn from RE, schools have a duty to supervise them, though not to provide additional teaching or to incur any extra costs. Pupils will usually remain on school premises, where it is feasible and appropriate.
Where a request for withdrawal is made, the school must comply and excuse the pupil until the request is rescinded.
(Section 71(3), School Standards and Framework Act 1998).

- If pupils are withdrawn from RE, schools have a duty to supervise them, though not to provide additional teaching. A pupil may be required to work in another area of the school, such as the library or a break out area.
- Whilst parents or carers have a right to withdraw children from RE, they should note that children may also encounter religions and beliefs and wider aspects of faith in other areas of the curriculum from which there is no right of withdrawal (e.g. On occasion, spontaneous questions about religious matters are raised by pupils or issues related to religion arise in other curriculum subjects such as history or citizenship (PSHE) For example, schools help pupils to understand ideas about identity and diversity, feelings and emotions within both religious and non-religious contexts).
