Life in Reception
(In development)
The vast majority of children from our Nursery remain with us and move into our Reception class. We often also benefit from children, who have been at Nursery elsewhere, joining us in September.
As the second year of EYFS, our Reception class children continue their journey in their own spacious environment, with direct access to an outside area, but which is right next door to Nursery. This provides continuity and familiarity for our children as they continue to learn, play and develop and means that they still get the opportunity to mix with our new Nursery intake.
During their time in Reception, children have access to their own outdoor playground, containing a covered play area with numerous outdoor activities and sheds full of balance bikes and outdoor equipment. Supervised at all times, children are actively encouraged to spend time outdoors (whatever the weather).
With a desktop computer, an interactive screen and access to numerous tablets/laptops, children have regular usage of technology to both support and augment their learning and play.
