George Fentham Endowed School Governing Body
The Governing Body at George Fentham Endowed School is made up of 14 Governors, consisting of 2 parent governors, 1 LA governor, 1 Headteacher, 1 staff governor, 1 co-opted governor (reserved for an additional staff governor) and 8 foundation governors. The foundation governors are appointed by the George Fentham Hampton-in-Arden Endowed Charity. The term of all governors is four years.

At George Fentham Endowed School we have 4 main committees. Each committee meets on a termly basis and has specific roles and responsibilities as outlined in each committee’s terms of reference. The Full Governing Body meets each term, following all committee meetings.

- Reviewing progress against the school's budget and objectives;
- Appointing, supporting and holding the Head Teacher to account.

Responsibilities
The strategy committee is responsible for working with leaders to set, communicate and evaluate the vision, ambition, ethos and strategic direction of the school, to provide the very best outcomes and highest achievement for all children. This committee will review the function and structure of the Governing Body, driving School Self-Evaluation (SSE) to ensure it performs to the highest standard and secures continual improvement. It is compromised of the Chair of Governors, Vice-Chair, Chairs of each of the Committees, Deputy Head teacher and Head Teacher. All Governors are invited to attend. The Finance, Site, Buildings & Maintenance Committee is authorised by the Governing Body to consider the school’s financial objectives as reflected in the School Improvement Plan. It has the responsibility to: set the school budget; monitor spending throughout the year; ensure financial controls are in place and being followed; audit the school accounts. The committee is also authorised to oversee the day to day maintenance works undertaken at the school to ensure the premises provides a clean, safe and modern environment for the pupils to learn. It manages, on behalf of the governing body, any larger long term capital projects that have been identified. It is comprised of five governors and the Head Teacher. The Finance Officer & Site Manager attend as required. This committee is authorised by the Governing Body to support the Head Teacher and staff on all staffing matters, so that they can perform their duties well and promote the achievement of all pupils. It determines, monitors and reviews on behalf of the Governing Body the pay policy and the related performance of staff. It has responsibility for the appointment of staff in line with safer recruitment, together with responsibility for staff capability, discipline and grievance matters. It is comprised of three governors and the Head teacher. The Standards and Curriculum Committee is authorised by the Governing Body to oversee the performance and progress of pupils and to monitor the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum that complies with the National Curriculum.
