School Council
Our school council consists of two elected members from every class and staff representation to support the running of meetings.
Every year, in the Autumn term, we elect new representatives for every class. This is done in an open and fair way, with children notifying the teacher of their desire to stand for election. In Key Stage 1 children's names are listed on a ballot paper. In Key Stage 2 children are given the opportunity to convince their classmates as to why they would be the best candidate, their names placed on ballot papers, and then both Key Stages vote, in a mock election, for their preferred Councillors. The results are announced in a special assembly, with the Head teacher presenting newly elected Councillors with their School Council badges.
The council meets every half term to address issues that are important to the stakeholders of our school. This has included; Playground Improvements & Safety, Healthy Eating, Environmental Issues, Assembly themes and many more. Councillors make representation to their classmates and gather opinions on the current topic/s, before feeding back to the committee. The outcomes of meetings are then shared with the stakeholders of the school.
