Year 1 (KS1)Our curriculum is based around the core elements of the National Curriculum, alongside the principles of BLP, SMSC and British Values. We want our children to grow into exceptional learners as well as exemplary members of society.
In this section you can find information about the curriculum being taught in Year 1, including an overview of the topics throughout the year as well as more detailed information about what is taught term by term. |
Yearly Curriculum Overview.
We use the "Floppy's Phonics" scheme for the teaching and learning of phonics throughout Year 1, with particular focus on completing Phases 3, 4 & 5 knowledge and understanding. For further information, please follow this link.
To support the teaching of Reading we have fidelity to one scheme, provided by ORT, that has direct links with the phonics teaching and learning, and is designed to help children develop their phonic knowledge, comprehension and speaking & listening skills.
Alongside this, children read for pleasure regularly and also in guided sessions, where the focus is on developing the specific reading content domains.
