Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and Assessment Update:
We are excited to announce that we have been selected to become an ‘Early Adopter’ school for the DfE's modified EYFS curriculum and Early Leaning Goals (ELGs). This means we will be teaching a revised curriculum and working towards the new ELGs a year early. The reforms aim to improve outcomes for young children, especially early language, reduce unnecessary workload and help every child to thrive and close the achievement gap.

Reception Curriculum/InformationOur curriculum is based around the core elements of the National Curriculum, alongside the principles of BLP, SMSC and British Values. We want our children to grow into exceptional learners as well as exemplary members of society.
In this section you can find information about the curriculum being taught in Reception, including an overview of the topics throughout the year as well as more detailed information about what is taught term by term. Class Curriculum Overview.
We use the "Floppy's Phonics" scheme for the teaching and learning of phonics during Nursery & Reception, with particular focus in Reception on completing Phase 1 & developing Phase 2, 3 & 4 knowledge and understanding. For further information, please follow this link. To support the teaching of Reading we have fidelity to one scheme, provided by ORT, that has direct links with the phonics teaching and learning, and is designed to help children develop their phonic knowledge, comprehension and speaking & listening skills. Alongside this, children read for pleasure regularly and also in guided sessions, where the focus is on developing the specific reading content domains. |
"Children in Nursery and Reception make good progress because their learning is exciting and their welfare assured." |
